CHICABAL LAGOON
A sacred place for the Mayans.
Description: Half day or two days hike to the Chicabal volcano, one of the smallest volcanoes in Guatemala, in which crater is nested the Chicabal lagoon.
Classification: moderate demanding.
Altitude: 2,900 mts. (9,515 ft.) above sea level.

Basic Information.

Duration: Half day or two days.

Ascent: 2.5 hours up hill.

Required equipment: hiking shoes, warm jacket and clothing, small backpack or complete equipment: sleeping bag, tent, big backpack.

Best time to do this excursion: from November to April when there's no rain. It's always cooler in the mountains.

Weather: normally the temperature is freezing in the evening, night and early morning.

Basic requirement: To be in good physical and mental conditioning, not to be sick.
